Talbot Trout Farm

Welcome to the Talbot Trout Farm

Nestled in the Mpumalanga Highlands, Talbot Farm is situated in the “Trout Triangle” between Dullstroom and Machadodorp.

Just two and a half hours from Gauteng, approximately 20kms beyond the Machado Toll Plaza off the N4 along the Maputo Corridor.  Talbot Farm is a self catering venue, with everything you need for a weekend away.  Both the Protea and Agapanthus cottages are private, have fireplaces and outdoor braai facilities.  Bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and showers.

The cottages are set on a 280ha farm with spectacular views of the landscape, mostly rolling hills and valleys.  The farm boasts three trout dams, which are stocked annually, and is home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna, making it an ideal location for birders and nature lovers.

Resident species include; blesbok, rhebok, zebra, porcupine, ostrich, duiker, otters,

African fish eagles and a variety of water and grassland birds.

Activities at Talbot Farm range from hiking, mountain biking, cross-country racing, fishing and birding.

Talbot Farm has built a reputation around still water trout fishing and practise catch and release.

The farm prides itself in its environmentally friendly policies.  Cottages are supplied with mineral water from the farm and filtered to produce the highest levels of purification.  The cottages are powered by solar panels, which provide a stable supply of 220v, this is unfortunately not sufficient

to power electrical devices with heating elements, such as hair dryers.

Talbot Farm is not only a safer holiday alternative for holidaymakers during the pandemic, but a safe environment for the whole family, and the farm lends itself to exploring and geocaching.
